New York – Athena Art Finance Corporation’s Managing Director Naomi Baigell will join a panel discussion during The Armory Show. The topic – From Investment to Connoisseurship — Debating Major Shifts in Collecting – will take place on March 8 from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Armory Live Theater at Pier 94.

Melanie Gerlis, Art Market Columnist for Financial Times will moderate the panel will also feature Sean Kelly, Owner, Sean Kelly; Daniel Sallick, Collector; Lisa Schiff, President and Founder, Schiff Fine Art; and Pedro Barbosa, Collector alongside Baigell.

This diverse cast of notable art world figures will examine what it means to be a collector today and how the practice of collecting has changed over the last quarter century with major shifts in the art market: global proliferation through art fairs, social media, and increasing speculation from investors. It will also delve into the mid- and long-term effects of these shifts and the role the art community plays in cultivating connoisseurship over investment.
